When Leontes, the king of Sicilia, begins to suspect his wife, Hermione, of infidelity with the ruler of neighboring Bohemia, his peaceful life begins to fracture. His unfounded belief leads to the deaths of his wife and son, and cause him to banish his infant daughter to her fate in the wild. Shepherds find and raise her, however, reversing fortune in this comedy of disguise, where liars and honest men change places and nothing is what it seems.
