Celebrating our Sixteenth Season, Baltimore Shakespeare Festival is the region's home for professional classical theatre and exciting educational programs. In 2003, BSF signed a Small Professional Theatre contract with Actors' Equity to become Baltimore City's third resident professional theatre company.
In addition to presenting exceptional productions outdoors each summer in the Meadow at the Evergreen Museum & Library, we also produce three plays each season at our indoor home at St. Mary's.
We are also dedicated to providing educational outreach programs to students throughout Maryland. Our popular artist-in-residence programs place professional actor/educators in middle and high schools and our exciting performance-in-education programs bring our touring productions to schools throughout the state. Over the last five years Baltimore Shakespeare Festival educational programming has reached over 75,000 Maryland students.
This year, we are very proud to once again participate in the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Arts Midwest's Shakespeare for a New Generation program. BSF is one of only 37 theatre companies in the US to be invited to be part of this initiative. Through this program we will be able to bring over 1000 Baltimore school students to our theatre. Many of these students have never experienced live theatre, and for nearly all it will be their first exposure to the work and words of Shakespeare.
Baltimore Shakespeare Festival is proud to be able to "Bring the Bard to Baltimore." We look forward to having you with us this season!
